This Privacy Policy explains how Sumitra Balika Inter College ("we", "our", "the school") collects, uses, and protects information through the SUMITRABIC mobile app and website, used by students, parents, and staff of the school.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: name, email address, mobile number, and role (student, parent, teacher, or admin), used to create and secure your login.
Academic records: attendance, homework, exam results, timetable, and fee payment status, linked to the relevant student.
Admission records: information provided at admission such as Aadhaar number, date of birth, and address, used for official school records. Aadhaar numbers are masked (only the last 4 digits shown) everywhere in the app and are never displayed in full.
Student photo: used for identification on the student's profile and ID card.
Device/notification data: a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) used only to deliver app notifications such as notices and attendance alerts.
App usage data: basic app interaction and crash data collected via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, used to fix bugs and improve the app.

2. How We Use Information

Information is used only to operate core school functions: managing attendance, homework, results, fees, timetables, notices, and communication between the school, teachers, students, and parents. We do not use your data for advertising.

3. Who Can Access Your Data

Students can view their own academic and attendance records.
Parents can view records belonging to their own child only.
Teachers can view records for the classes they teach.
School administrators can access records needed to manage school operations.

Access is enforced through role-based permissions on our servers — no user can view another student's data without authorization.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party. Data is shared only with:

Firebase (Google): for push notifications, crash reporting, and basic app analytics.

5. Data Security

All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS.
Login sessions use secure, expiring authentication tokens stored using encrypted device storage.
Uploaded photos and documents are validated and stored securely; direct script execution is disabled on all upload folders.
Access to student and staff data is restricted by role-based permissions enforced on the server for every request.

6. Children's Privacy

This app is used by students enrolled at Sumitra Balika Inter College, some of whom are minors. Student accounts and data are created and managed by the school as part of the admission and enrollment process, under the school's oversight. Parents can contact the school administration at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

Academic and admission records are retained for as long as required for the student's enrollment and applicable education record-keeping requirements. To request deletion or correction of personal data, contact the school administration using the details below.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting the school administration. We will respond to reasonable requests within a reasonable time.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
